Ano Viannos: The Hometown of Ioannis Kondylakis
ABOUT
Ano Viannos is the birthplace of Ioannis Kondylakis, the father of what the Greeks call a ‘chronograph’: a short literary piece published in a newspaper or magazine.
The village is situated in a terraced layout, cascading down the slope of the Dikti foothills (southwestern slopes of Afendis Christos), at an altitude of 560 metres overlooking the olive grove of the province of Viannos.
Within the vicinity, visitors can unwind and savour delectable cuisine at charming tavernas, indulge in coffee or raki at the local cafés, and select from various types of accommodation for their stay.
The villagers are highly engaged in and deeply fond of their community, coming together in support of the cultural association known as Patouchas.
Nature enthusiasts can include a visit to the Omalos Plateau and the Viannos Gorge in their itinerary. Moreover, the area is adorned with numerous churches that are worth exploring.
