Amira in Viannos: A Village of Martyrs
ABOUT
In September 1943, Nazi occupation troops executed 117 male residents in Amira, Viannos. Annually, the villagers commemorate the memory of the fallen through a series of events focused on the Panprovincial Monument at Seli.
Nestled on the southern slopes of Mt Dikti, the village is cradled in a verdant panorama of olive groves and fruit trees, standing at an elevation of 680 metres.
The village's Cultural, Athletic, and Educational Association is notably vibrant and engaged.
The primary churches in the village include Michael the Archangel, Agios Nikolaos housing the cemetery, and Agios Georgios, complemented by various other churches and chapels.
