Olive tree of Samonas

This particular olive tree is located among other ancient olive trees with exceptional relief.

The olive tree of Samonas is located in the area of Lakkos in Armenoi, Chania, near the ancient settlement of 'Kylindra' from the Late Minoan period.

The trunk, at a height of 0.9 meters from the ground, has a diameter of 5.25 meters and a circumference of 12.9 meters, while at the base it has a diameter of 6.7 meters and a circumference of 20.05 meters.

It is estimated that its age exceeds 3,000 years! The olive tree is of the mastoid variety grafted onto wild olive rootstock.
