Natural History Museum of Crete

ABOUT

The exhibition of the Natural History Museum of the University of Crete is located on Sofoklis Venizelos Avenue (Dermata Bay) in Heraklion. At the NHMUC, visitors can actively participate and discover facts through its original, three-dimensional, and interactive exhibits.

The Megadiorama exhibits are an important feature of the museum's central exhibition space, taking up three levels in the heart of the preserved industrial building. 

Enceladus

‘Enceladus’ ( Greek mythology: a giant buried under Mount Etna in Sicily) is a tool for familiarizing visitors with the phenomenon of earthquakes. 

The Discovery Area – Stavros Niarchos

The Discovery Area is a specially designed 250 sq. m space for children. It is a miniature representation of the different ecosystems of the Mediterranean, enriched with a multitude of original and interactive games, where children, using all their senses, learn about nature and its organisms.
