Agios Myronas: A Village with a Rich Tradition

Agios Myronas is a primary village of Heraklion, boasting a rich history and tradition.

It is situated on top of two hills in ancient Rafkos (one of the 100 cities of the Homeric Cretan Hekatomboli), offering panoramic views from all its vantage points.

Its distinctive feature is the school clock, which sets it apart from the entire Malevizi region.

It is notable for its very intriguing urban layout and traditional architecture.

In a prominent location stands the cathedral of Agios Myronas, after whom the village is named. Inside the church, you can find the tomb of the saint and his relics displayed in an ornate reliquary. To the west and below the church, you'll discover the cloister where the saint practiced monastic life, which has been transformed into a chapel. On 8th August, the day of the saint's feast, a grand festival is held.
