“Journey” is the title of the new exhibition hosted at the Heraklion Museum of Visual Arts (METI) from January 25 to February 21, 2025. This intriguing theme inspired numerous artists to explore and interpret the concept through their own experiences, creating works that often literally depict the essence of travel, while others delve into metaphorical representations, offering layered interpretations.

In search of a definition, the exhibition states:
Travel is the movement of people across geographically distant locations. It can be by foot, bicycle, car, train, ship, airplane, or other means, with or without luggage, and may or may not include a return journey.

With this perspective, the participating artists have infused their works with movement or other essential elements that symbolically or literally convey the idea of travel.

This is the museum’s annual group exhibition, part of METI’s 2025 program. It offers artists an opportunity to visually express themselves during a month at the heart of winter. Open to all, it serves as a platform for creatives to showcase their work alongside others, gaining exposure, fostering comparisons, and drawing their own conclusions.
