Tsoutsouras: A Gathering Spot for Summer Vacationers

ABOUT

This seaside village has a small permanent population but overflows with visitors during the warmer months. Even getting there is a delight, as the final stretch of the drive passes through the heart of the Asterousia Mountains. The panoramic views of the rugged peaks and the Libyan Sea are truly breathtaking.

Tsoutsouras is built on the site of ancient Inatos, with ruins still visible today. At the village’s entrance, you’ll also find an important sacred cave, once a place of worship for Eileithyia, the goddess of childbirth and motherhood.

The village offers small hotels, traditional tavernas, and lively bars for night-time entertainment. It’s surrounded by wild, rocky mountains dotted with small caves to explore. Hiking trails wind through stunning landscapes, leading to the peaks of the Asterousia range. For thrill-seekers, the small Tsoutsouras Gorge provides unforgettable canyoning experiences.
