Karteros Beach: A Paradise for Windsurfing Enthusiasts
ABOUT
The beach located 9 kilometres east of Heraklion was named after General Karteros, who, in 824 AD, landed there in an attempt to liberate Crete from the Saracens but unfortunately suffered defeat.
The beach is vast and expansive, adorned with fine golden sand, interspersed with pebbles.
Karteros Beach is ideal for windsurfing.
Just 200 metres off the coast, opposite the beach, there is a rocky islet called Monocharako, spanning around one acre in size. It's a great spot for swimming and exploration.
